Sadiqa Sultani

ORIGIN: Afghanistan
LOCATION: Indonesia
Sadiqa is in her twenties and originally comes from Afghanistan. Due to the Taliban rule, Sadiqa was unable to receive education and exercise her rights in her home country. As a result, Sadiqa and her family had to move to Quetta, Pakistan. She started her studies in Quetta and graduated from high school in 2016. Soon after, they were forced to leave Pakistan due to their ethnic and religious identities. Sadiqa is currently located in Indonesia where she volunteers at the Refugee Learning Center as a teacher and HR manager and as an interpreter in the refugee community. She joined NaTakallam as a Language Partner in early 2020 and her sessions are opportunities for her students to have fun and get acquainted with a different culture while learning! In her free time, she enjoys and loves spending time with her daughter and family, writing in her journal.

Leila Papoli-Yazdi

In 2003, she began a project in disaster archaeology in the city of Bam, which had been recently destroyed by a catastrophic earthquake. She has managed various research projects in Pakistan, Kuwait, Sweden, and Iran. During the last decade, she has held several workshops for Afghan students living in Iran. Leila has previously taught Farsi to Afghan refugees and has extensive translation experience. During her Language Sessions with NaTakallam, Leila balances the written and spoken Farsi and finds that she also learns from her students by listening to their areas of interest and expertise!
